2008 Fly Tying Classes

The 2008 tying classes will begin soon.  See the Beginner's and Advanced Class information below.

 

Beginner's Class

Beginning classes start on January 15th and will be held in the Gander Lodge Lodge at Gander Mountain store (8001 Old Troy Pike, Huber Heights, OH 45424. (see map).  Classes will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Club membership is available and required for participation ($30)

  • No experience, tools, or equipment required – just come as you are.

  • Tool kits will be available for sign-out ($35 refundable security deposit)

  • Materials will be provided at no cost

  • Through a special arrangement with Gander Mountain you may purchase a Beginner Tool Kit for $35 -- just tools; no material

  • Fly-tying contest with prizes at the end of the program

Advanced Class

Advanced classes start on January 17th and will be held in the St Mark’s Episcopal Church (456 Woodman Ave, Dayton, OH (see map).  Classes will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on consecutive Thursday evenings

  • Club membership is available and required for participation ($30)
  • Participants will tie 19 different flies and will learn 43 different tying techniques in the process.
  • See the fly recipes for material requirements.  Club will provide hooks.
  • Prize for the MOST OUTRAGEOUS FLY at the end of the program
